Mary C. Dufour, M.D., M.P.H., Senior Vice President
Dr. Mary C. Dufour is co-founder and Senior Vice President of The Madrillon Group. Her extensive medical and scientific knowledge and more than 30 years experience in health research and analysis, enable her to lead project teams conducting a wide variety of research and evaluation efforts as well as to prepare presentations, reports, and scholarly publications for clients. Dr. Dufour is currently directing or supporting evaluation and support services projects across several Institutes, Offices, and Centers at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration.
A physician-epidemiologist trained in pathology and public health, Dr. Dufour spent her 21-year federal career in research and senior leadership positions at the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism at NIH. Her epidemiology background provides a solid foundation in rigorous data collection methods, statistical techniques and analytic strategies. Her understanding of basic and clinical research enables her to stand on equal footing with scientist clients. Her familiarity with the NIH environment, structure, functions, and expectations enables the Madrillon Group to design studies which have an optimum chance of achieving success and meeting clients’ needs. As an officer in the U.S. Public Health Service, she attained the rank of Assistant Surgeon General. As a flag officer, Dr. Dufour served on numerous high-level trans-agency federal committees and has an extensive network of top level federal contacts. A recognized expert in alcohol epidemiology with over 100 publications, Dr. Dufour holds an M.D. from the Medical College of Wisconsin and a Master of Public Health degree in epidemiology from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. She is board-certified in anatomic and clinical pathology.
